Supervisor Hahn has supported Lawrence since he was in juvenile detention, consistently offering hope and encouragement. She stood by him through the trials and kept her word: “I’ll be there for you.” That kind of leadership matters.

It is essential that we continue investing in prevention programs that interrupt cycles of addiction, incarceration, and crime. Through multiple approaches, we empower our youth with tools for life, drug education, financial literacy, community outings, and other curricula designed to strengthen their internal growth and character. This is Cohort 4, and they have shown true commitment by taking this program seriously. We are incredibly proud of them, because real change begins during adolescence.

Your support allows us to create spaces where our youth can build strength from the inside out.

Martial Arts is not about being impulsive or reacting out of emotion. Every movement is calculated, thoughtful, and purposeful. It teaches our youth that life, much like training, comes with pressure and unexpected blows. What matters is how you respond. Through Martial Arts, they learn coping mechanisms, emotional regulation, and strategic thinking skills that extend far beyond the mat and into everyday life.

Welcome Home Oasis embodies the importance of daily family meals, a tradition that goes far beyond food. It’s about connection, communication, and consistency. The core of our everyday lives begins with what we experience before we step out the door.

Around the table, we build values, morals, and emotional strength. We practice positive affirmations, speak life over one another, and create a space where vulgarity has no place, only encouragement, love, and understanding.

Many of our youth never grew up with this foundation. In fact, most young people in the juvenile system have never experienced eating together as a family. Some never had a dining table, a “good morning,” or someone asking, “How was your day?”

At Welcome Home Oasis, we’re rebuilding what was missing. Each meal we share teaches that they are seen, they are heard, they are accepted, and they matter.

Today we had the privilege of visiting Cal State Long Beach University to strengthen our partnership with some of the city’s leading representatives serving justice-impacted individuals. Project Rebound provided us with a red-carpet experience, and @risingscholarscsulb extended a warm and welcoming reception. The staff, along with our formerly incarcerated friends, greeted us with genuine care and a strong sense of family.

We are honored to celebrate this day as a milestone in our ongoing efforts to uplift and grow our community. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and supporting our youth as they take the next big step in pursuing higher education. We extend our heartfelt thanks for the love, hospitality, and opportunity to visit such an inspiring campus.

Jesus Moreno, 19 years old, has been an inspiration to the Welcome Home Oasis family. His growth, dedication, and strong work ethic show the true meaning of second chances.
